My Story

Over 30 years ago, I nervously stepped into my first leadership role as a store manager for a women's boutique clothing store. Little did I know, that moment would ignite my passion for helping others reach their full potential. My career journey has been a tapestry of experiences - from the sparkle of the fine jewelry industry to the fast-paced world of tech and state government. However, amidst the varied landscapes, one thing remained constant: my deep-seated belief in the power of leadership development.

For me, leadership has always been an evolution - a journey of self-discovery and adaptation to the ever-changing world around us. Yet, through it all, the most fulfilling aspect has been witnessing the growth and success of those I've had the privilege to mentor. Navigating male-dominated industries has presented its share of challenges, but it's also fueled my determination to champion women in leadership. I'm committed to amplifying their voices and empowering them to be the change they wish to see.

Beyond the boardroom, I've proudly lent my leadership skills to various community and government organizations. Whether serving as a Human Relations Commissioner for the Town of Normal, IL or leading Relay for Life teams in the fight against cancer, giving back has always been a cornerstone of my ethos. As a graduate of McLean County Chamber of Commerce Leadership McLean County and an elected Program President, I've seen firsthand the transformative power of leadership education. It’s been a very difficult several weeks with work and especially stressful on one of my leaders. They’re amazing at their job but this has pushed us all a little out of our comfort zone as we work to finalize. I asked my leadership to chat with them as additional support for the end goal and they eagerly accepted.

Now this wasn’t about me but this incredible leader of mine reached out after that and thanked me for always leading by example and using my voice and not shying away from the difficult conversations in support of my team. They know this hasn’t been easy and my constant advocacy for them and our purpose “allows [them] to show up even on [their] worst days”.

Leadership isn’t easy but nothing has ever given me such pride to be a good one.
